Red and White Freeze

This frozen dessert salad has a red layer of cranberry sauce on top of a white mixture of whipped cream, cream cheese and mayo with walnuts.
 

Ingredients

  • 2 cups jellied cranberry sauce
  • 2-3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream, whipped

Method

Mash cranberry sauce with fork, add lemon juice and mix. Place into a Jello mold and move to freezer to set. Meanwhile, combine cream cheese, mayonnaise and powdered sugar; mix well. Stir in chopped walnuts; fold in whipped cream. Spread over cranberry mixture and free until firm, about 2 hours. When ready to serve, quickly dip mold in warm water to loosen and turn out onto serving plate.

 

Notes: This recipe is not only delicious, but very beautiful. Great recipe for Christmas. I have made this every year for our Christmas dinner.
