Berry Special Fruit Salad

This sweet and creamy fruit salad contains cream cheese, powdered sugar and Cool Whip, plus grated chocolate, and nuts (if you wish.)
Ingredients
- 2 Granny Smith Apples Cored, peeled, and diced
- 2 bananas, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup fresh seedless grapes, halved
- 1 can mandarin oranges (drained)
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 4 cups whipped topping (8 oz carton)
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 oz grated milk chocolate
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Method
1. Using a mixer beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until creamy. 2. Fold whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture. 3. Gently stir in apples, bananas, grapes, oranges, and blueberries. 4. Fold the grated chocolate and chopped pecans (if using) into the salad. Chill, if desired.
Notes: A helpful hint for grating chocolate is to freeze the bar prior to grating. I use a microplane to get a fine grate. The chocolate blends throughout the salad. Nuts are a source of contention in our family. I make the pecans optional. I set them out next to the salad so that people can sprinkle them on top for an extra crunch.
